African cocktails and a hidden speakeasy buzz set the scene at Zanzi Cocktails Club, the short-lived hideout on avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie in Paris's 8th. For a run of nights in November and December 2021, Elements Jazz debuted a brand-new afrofunk repertoire here, opening the venue's launch and turning the cocktail room hot, Thursday after Thursday. The core trio — Arnaud Quercy on piano, Elliot Langlois on double bass and Romain Courty on drums — laid down the groove.
Across the five documented dates the band welcomed guest stars — guitarists Adrien Shanuk and Adrien Aduwana and drummer Anael Noury — with quartet guitarist Pierre-Alexis Courty sitting in for the launch night. The set leaned hard into funk and afrofunk while keeping a Parisian wink alive through standards like Cole Porter's "I Love Paris." Now closed, Zanzi remains one of the band's punchiest late-night residencies.
