High above the avenue des Champs-Elysees, on the open-air Terrasse 50, Elements Jazz turned a single October 2017 evening into a swinging rooftop set. "Swing because life is too short not to," ran the caption — and the band leaned straight into it. The core quartet of Arnaud Quercy on piano, Elliot Langlois on double bass, Jeremy Quentin on guitar and Romain Courty on drums played a private party in Paris's 8th arrondissement, with double bassist Georges Dessaux joining as guest for the night.
Working from their swing and standards book — the kind of repertoire that runs from Cole Porter's I Love Paris to Duke Ellington's Take the A Train and Caravan — the group kept the rooftop loose, bright and danceable as Paris glittered below. A one-off evening, but an unmistakably Parisian one.
